Common Ground Grill and Tap: Burgers, Seafood and More

Quail and waffles with sweet chili syrup. Crispy chicken puffs with leeks and chimichurri sauce. Grilled artichoke hearts with piquillo puree, bacon, and goat cheese. These are some of the upscale appetizers you can expect to encounter at Common Ground Grill and Tap, a New American restaurant that opened six weeks ago about three miles from Villas of Oak Hill.

For the main course, dig into something more filling, like the Common burger. It features eight ounces of Akaushi Japanese beef, topped with smoked cheddar cheese, tomatoes, arugula, and pickled onions. Entrees include pan-seared shrimp with red chile polenta and sunflower chimichurri, grilled chicken with a sage reduction, and chorizo-stuffed quail, but save some room. You will probably want to try one of the desserts, perhaps the brandy cake with vanilla ice cream, a dash of orange zest, and a pinch of salt.
